Online conference: Putting people at the heart of energy transitions!

To all policy makers, social innovators, researchers, those working for local authorities, and anyone interested in the energy transition, really – clear some of your schedule on 28 and 29 April. Because in this online conference, you get to join European Commission representatives (CINEA, DG ENER, DG R&I, DG CLIMA), local government representatives, leading European universities, and social innovators to come together on energy transitions on a dynamic virtual platform.
 
The highlight session is a Joint Policy Dialogue. First, Rosalinde van der Vlies, Director Clean Planet, DG R&I, European Commission will set the stage. The SONNET, SocialRES, COMETS and NEWCOMERS projects will then present a jointly-developed Policy Brief and set of recommendations, which speak to how the European Union can better harness the full potential of social innovations to transform energy systems. An esteemed panel representing DG CLIMA, DG ENER, REScoop.eu and the European Joint Research Centre will react and respond to the projects’ proposal.
 
The programme also includes more targeted, workshop-style parallel sessions; guided virtual site visits of social innovation initiatives in Antwerp; and a dialogue between social innovation projects that are concluding their work and those that are just beginning.
