Steve Elbers Visiting Researcher

elbers@drift.eur.nl

Steve is committed to connecting art and design to transitions, as there is still much to gain on both sides to strengthen the transformative power toward a sustainable and just future. As a specialist in co-creation, connection, and collaboration, he is affiliated with the Transition Ateliers of DRIFT.

He draws inspiration from artists and designers with a social and co-creative approach who envision alternative perspectives for the future—radical imagination. Additionally, the pursuit of equality and justice, and giving a voice to both people and non-human entities in marginalized positions, is deeply ingrained in him.

Previously, he worked as a Project Manager for Radical Imagination in Transition at the Design Impact Transition (DIT) Platform of the EUR. After studying Ethnic Studies and Minority Issues at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam, he spent many years working for various social organizations, such as Stichting DOEN.

In his free time, he enjoys tinkering and crafting and can often be found in nature, walking or cycling. He also loves DJing and visiting theaters and museums.
