Serf (he/him) is committed to realizing transitions – the first step: awareness! As an education coordinator and facilitator, he knows how to mobilize people and set up and support transformative education. He develops DRIFT courses, teaches the New Economic Thinking & Social Entrepreneurship minor, and creates tailor-made training programs for organizations.
The transition of our economy is his favourite domain. Our economy is based on the exploitation of people and the planet. Understanding this system, developing alternatives, and setting up concrete transition experiments to accelerate this transition is therefore essential work – but for him, it is also incredibly fun to do!
After his BA Liberal Arts & Sciences and MA Science & Technology Studies (STS) at Maastricht University, he started working at Fontys International Business School (FIBS) to investigate how they could best incorporate more sustainability themes into the curriculum. Subsequently, he started working as a researcher at the Rathenau Institute to expose the societal and ethical issues arising from the transition to the digital society.
In addition to his work at DRIFT, you can see him whizzing by on inline skates, playing large board games, and enjoying drumming a good beat that, once again, gets people moving.
