Mayte Beekman Researcher & advisor

At DRIFT, Mayte works on several themes and projects. She enjoys working on action-oriented research and advisory work, especially learning from and supporting people that work on sustainability transitions in practice.
Before starting her work at DRIFT, she worked as a researcher on at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University, where she studied the potential of transformative spaces (e.g. living labs, transition arenas) in sustainability transitions. Before that, she helped to build up the Design Impact Transition (DIT) platform at Erasmus University Rotterdam, a strategic project aimed at empowering transformative and transdisciplinary research and education. Mayte is a historian and policy analyst by training. She graduated cum laude from Maastricht University with a double degree in Public Policy and Human Development and obtained a BA in History from Utrecht University.
In her free time, Mayte enjoys cooking, going on hikes, watching new films and spending time with friends and family.
